AI Companies are hiring one-third fewer PMs
Model builders and vibe coding platforms have 34% fewer 'product manager' titles as a share of open roles
I've seen some great discussions about the job of product management now that we have LLMs at work, but not much data. Here's a quick attempt to put some numbers to it. The difference is pretty stark.
This was a quick afternoon project limited to job platforms that were easy to scrape - notably missing big tech like Google and Meta. Take it as directional. I'll be interested to see how these numbers evolve over time.
Methodology
Job postings were collected on Dec 8, 2025 from 100 AI and tech-focused companies. The 10,739 raw postings were deduplicated by company and title to yield 8,803 unique roles. Product Manager roles were identified via case-insensitive keyword matching on job titles. Companies were manually classified into six mutually exclusive categories. The chart shows Product Manager postings as a percentage of total open roles within each category.
